A few days ago I stumbled upon this old book from my days at Cal State Long Beach. Usually these old forgotten books would send me on some unforgiving flashback. But this was my Anatomy Coloring Book. Yes, you read that right. I know some of you already have encountered something like it, especially all of you future nurses and doctors. I perused through the first couple of pages and was surprised to see how untouched it has been. (Okay, I wasn't really surprised, I only opened it a few times during class because it was an optional assignment.) I was interested in doing a few more pages and maybe eventually finish it. My Crayola colored pencils were still in pristine condition so there I was, pencil in hand and a mission in mind. It's been a great companion during lunch breaks at work. My coworkers were confused, "So you're still in school?" Honestly, does someone have to be currently enrolled in a class just to feed his intellectual curiosity? And this is a coloring book, I rather be doing this then wasting my brain cells away watching the nonsense on TV or gossiping during lunch breaks. I've tried to read a bevy of interesting books but I ended up putting it on the "finish later" pile. At least this will keep my attention on high and I'm re-learning all the cells, body parts, bones, organs, etc. I may not end up as a nurse or a doctor, but at least I will be able to tell you all the chambers of the heart (there are four).
